Beginning

Once Katie saw her sisters meager belongings, she knew she had to help her out, and the first thing she thought of was to give her sister a small bit of happiness by giving her some things she would want.

Everything was going well, until there was a sudden thunderous roar, the building was shaking and the lights flickering.

Soon everything went black for the both of them…

Katie awoke in a strange place, she jumped up and saw two guys playing with dogs, and her sister asleep in the bed next to her. Meghan had bruises on her face, and Katie could feel the soreness on her face as well. What the heck had happened?

“Where am I, what happened?” Katie asked the older boy.

“You are currently in The Blair Hotel, courtesy of my late father, and war has happened. We’ve been bombed, and this is the aftermath.”

“How can you seem so nonchalant about it? We were BOMBED.”

The boy scratched the back of his head. “Well my dad went kind of wacko after my mom died, he thought the apocalypse was going to be upon us, so he made this hotel as a safe away, and trained us. Guess I kind of grew up worrying about this, and turns out my old man was very intelligent.”

Katie kept glancing at her sister and tried to take it all in.

“You’re lucky. Everyone else in the building was dead, after looking through the ruins, my brother Jack saw you two, both breathing, but having taken a beating. We carried you back, and here you are 2 days later.”

“I’ll be right back.” Katie an out of the building. She had to see it with her own eyes.

Katie was in shock. Everything around her was damaged, broken, dirty… Bombed.

Responsibility

Meet Kate. She went off to college, never looked back. Through lack of contact with her family to get her threw the lonely nights, she sought the companionship of frat parties. Most night she got black out drunk, but she still continued to stay on the Dean’s list, because even though she became a party girl, she was still the old Katie.

She always regretted the lost memories in the morning. Sometimes trying to forget the past, wasn’t the best feeling in the morning.

Kate gets an unexpected call and hears a voice she hadn’t heard in four years. Even though it had matured over the years, it seemed smaller than before, it was her sister.

“Please come back. Mom’s even worse now.” with that, Meghan hung up for fear that she would breakdown on the phone.

That seemed to snap Katie into reality, she needed to help her little sister. There was only 3 days left till graduation so Katie decided to sell most of her stuff, and have some money to her name. She didn’t want to think of everything her sister had gone through after she left. Their father died 2 years before Katie’s 18th birthday, and when when Meghan was only 11. For the two years before Katie went to college, which she worked her butt off for, their mother was distant and the few times she spoke to them was to insult them. Katie did everything she could to protect and help her sister, but once she turned 18 she ran away from the nightmares that haunted her dreams, and she would have traded her right arm to have her sister join her, but all she could do was get a degree, then get a job to help her sister. Once her sister’s frantic midnight calls stopped, Katie hoped her mom had finally stopped the harassment and got on with her life. Obviously that was not the case.
